DEADLINE: May 13th
The University of Coimbra offers one Post-Doc research grant for candidates with PhD to work on the Project “Card3DFace”, with the following characteristics:
Scientific areas: Computer Vision
Applicant profile: PhD in Electrical and Computers Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics Engineering, Mathematics, or similar, as long as with programming skills. Previous experience in the areas of Image Processing, Signal Processing, Computer Vision, Optics or Machine Learning are valued but are not necessary.
Type of activity: The research fellows will integrate a multi-disciplinary team aiming at the development of a printing system for 3D faces of humans in cards with lenticular lenses of vertical shape. The objective is to produce the image of a face with tridimensional aspect. The type of cameras used to produce the face 3D model will be light field cameras. The work plan for the fellowship is the following:
- Construction of a Data Base of faces using two or more type of light field cameras; Construction and tune of the algorithm to make 3D reconstruction of the faces from a single image of a light field camera; Test and validation of the algorithm; Report.
- Starting from a 3D model of a face, construction of an algorithm to generate several views of a face; Printing of the views in cards with lenticular vertical lenses; Report.
- Research in the field of Light Field Cameras.
Location: Computer Vision Lab of the Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra.
Duration: 12 months
Renewal: Eventually renewable.
Scientific Orientation: Professor Nuno Miguel Mendonça da Silva Gonçalves.
Financial conditions: 1495€ for a candidate with the PhD Degree, paid at the end of each month by bank transfer, plus social security (seguro social voluntário, first level contributions) and a personal accidents insurance.
Selection methods: Curriculum evaluation (80%) and interview (20%).
Selection and attribution criteria: The selection will be evaluated based on the following criteria: (A) Merit and adequacy of the academic profile of the candidate (B) Relevant previous experience for the tasks (C) Motivation and autonomy to be assessed in an eventual interview (using skype or personally). Each of the criteria will be given a classification in a scale 0 to 5 and the final grade (NF) will be computed according to the following equation: NF=0.40xA+0.40xB+0.20xC. If none of the candidates have a final grade of at least 3.5, the call will close without any hiring.
Formalization of application: The applications must include a motivation letter, recommendation letters (optional) and a detailed CV which must include a list of all the subjects in the last completed degree (PhD) and their respective grades to the email nunogon at deec.uc.pt <mailto:nunogon at deec.uc.pt> .
Deadline for submission of applications: from May 13th, 2017
Tentative starting date: June 15th, 2017
Additional information: The evaluation results will be announced within 30 days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the scholarship. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
