Lecture 1: Methods of motion planning for stationary and mobile robots
Tuesday 11 Dec, 1:30pm, ISR Auditorium

Synopsis: The lecture presents an overview of motion planning tasks for robots.
It characterizes path and trajectory planning problems and discusses methods of solution to these problems established for stationary and mobile robots. For mobile robots a difference in planning between omnidirectional and car-like robots will be shown.

Lecture 2: Moving in real world - planning a motion among obstacles
Wednesday 12 Dec, 1:30pm, ISR Auditorium

Synopsis: A main problem of driving a mobile robot in real world is avoiding collisions with other objects whose position is usually not fully known. Moreover some of those object may also be mobile.
The lecture describes methods used for motion planning in presence of static and moving objects. It will also present some issues related with moving in a presence of people of a socially-aware robot.

Short bio:

Janusz Jakubiak received the PhD degree in automation and robotics from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) with a thesis on optimal control of robotic manipulators.
He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Electronics, WUST at the Department of Cybernetics and Robotics.

His main fields of interest are motion planning and control of nonholonomic robots and navigation of wheeled mobile robots. Currently he works on projects on motion planning of a space robot in presence of large obstacles and control synthesis for robot groups.
