A Universidade de Coimbra abre concurso para atribuição de uma bolsa de investigação, no âmbito do projeto TrustFaces - manipulação de imagens para documentos de identificação nacionais, com as seguintes características: 

N.º de bolsas: 1.

Tipo de Atividade: Bolsa de investigação.

Financiamento: Projeto em parceria com a INCM (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda.

Destinatários da (s) bolsa (s): Doutor em Visão por Computador, Biometria, Engenharia Eletrotécnica e Computadores, Engenharia Informática, Engenharia Biomédica, Engenharia Física, Matemática e afins. A presente bolsa tem como objetivo o desenvolvimento de trabalhos de investigação, no âmbito da formação avançada de natureza pós-doutoral. A candidatura escolhida integrará uma equipa multi-disciplinar com o objetivo de criar algoritmos de comparação de imagens de pessoas e extração de características importantes para a identificação e autenticação dessas pessoas, com aplicações diversas na indústria, particularmente em elementos de segurança de nível básico e nível forense para documentos de identificação, nomeadamente cartão do cidadão e passaporte. Os conceitos trabalhados permitirão o desenvolvimento de capacidades em áreas de processamento de imagens e sinais e visão por computador. A candidatura escolhida participará também na preparação e submissão de trabalhos científicos para publicação em atas de conferências e revistas científicas da especialidade. Tratando-se de uma atividade de formação, não é requerida à partida qualquer experiência na execução de atividades similares às incluídas no plano de atividades.

Local de realização da (s) Bolsa (s): Laboratório de Visão do Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica da Universidade de Coimbra.

Duração da (s) Bolsa (s): 12 meses.

Renovação: renovável – 24 meses.

Condições Financeiras da Bolsa: A bolsa ascende a € 1.509,80€ correspondente ao subsídio mensal de manutenção estipulado na tabela FCT (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). Este subsídio mensal será pago no final do mês, por transferência bancária (A este valor acresce o seguro social voluntário correspondente ao primeiro escalão, caso o candidato opte pela sua atribuição, bem como o seguro de acidentes pessoais). O valor da bolsa não aumentará ao longo de todo o período da sua duração.

Regime de Atividade: A atribuição da bolsa não gera nem titula uma relação de natureza jurídico-laboral, é exercida em regime de dedicação exclusiva. É atribuído ao Bolseiro o Estatuto de Bolseiro da UC, conforme disposto no Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação, e no Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Universidade de Coimbra, ambos na sua redação atual.

Método (s) de seleção: Avaliação curricular (50%) e Entrevista (50%)..

Critérios de seleção e atribuição: Na avaliação curricular (50%) serão considerados os seguintes critérios: 

1. Elementos curriculares apresentados, incluindo a adequação do perfil e mérito do candidato às necessidades do projeto (50%); 

2. Adequação do CV ao projeto, nomeadamente, conhecimentos na área de biometria, reconhecimento de faces, processamento de imagem, visão por computador e gráficos (50%);

Na entrevista (50%) serão valorizados critérios como motivação, empenho, criatividade e

perseverança e capacidade de comunicação em língua inglesa.

Formalização da candidatura: As candidaturas são formalizadas, obrigatoriamente, pelo envio de Curriculum Vitae do candidato com o histórico académico, Cópia do Certificado de grau de Doutor e carta de apresentação.

Os candidatos com graus académicos obtidos no estrangeiro terão de apresentar Certidão de registo de reconhecimento de acordo com a legislação aplicável.

Announcement for a research grant 

A research grant is available at the University of Coimbra on the  TrustFaces – manipulation of images for national ID and travel documents project, with the following characteristics:

Type of activity: Research grant

Financial support: Project in partnership with The Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM)

Applicant profile: PhD in Computer Vision, Biometrics, Electrical and Computers Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics Engineering or similar. The purpose of this scholarship is the development of research work within the framework of advanced postdoctoral training. The chosen applications will integrate a multi-disciplinary team with the objective of creating algorithms for comparing images of people and extracting important characteristics for the identification and authentication of these people, with diverse applications in the industry, particularly in basic security elements and at the forensic level for identification documents, namely citizen's card and passport. These concepts will allow the development of capacities in areas of image and signal processing and computer vision. The chosen candidates will also participate in the preparation and submission of scientific papers for publication in proceedings of scientific conferences and journals of the specialty. In the case of a training activity, no experience is required at the start of activities like those included in the activity plan.

Location: Vision Lab of the Institute for Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra.

Duration: 12 months

Renewal: Renuable – 24 months

Financial conditions: The amount of the grant is € 1.509,80€ corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en), plus social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the grant duration.

Regime: The attribution of the grant does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, it is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime and the fellow is granted with the Fellow Statute of the University of Coimbra, according to Research Grant Statute, and the Regulation of Research Grants of the University of Coimbra, both in its actual wording.

Selection methods: Curricular evaluation (50%) and Interview (50%).

Selection and attribution criteria: In the curricular evaluation (50%) will be considered the following criteria: 

1. Curricular elements presented, including the adequacy of the profile and merit of the candidate to the necessities of the project (50%);

2. Adequacy of the CV to the project, namely, knowledge in the area of biometrics, image processing, computer vision and computer graphics (50%);

At the interview (50%) criteria such as motivation, commitment, creativity, resilience and communication capacity in English will be evaluated.

Formalization of application: The applications are formalized (mandatory) by the submission of the candidate CV with his/her academic path, copy of the PhD Degree certificate and presentation letter.

Candidates with foreign academic diplomas are obliged to present records of the recognition of such diplomas according to the Portuguese law.
