The Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra (ISR-UC: https://www.isr.uc.pt) opens a call to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher, under the research project nº. 030935 “B-RELIABLE: Boosting reliability and interaction on brain-machine interface systems integrating automatic error-detection”, with applications in Communication systems, Robotics and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
We are looking for candidates with the following profile:
- PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or closely related area;
- Proven experience in machine learning or mobile robotics. Preference is given to those who have experience in classification, pattern recognition and signal processing of multidimensional data, particularly in electroencephalographic signals, and in the development of brain-computer interfaces;
- Good programming skills in Matlab and at least in one of the following languages: Python, C, C++, C#;
- Experience in participating in scientific research projects and in the supervision of non-graduate students and/or research fellows;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;

This project aims to investigate and develop new signal processing and machine learning methods/applications, theoretical and computational models and respective experimental validation, in brain-computer / brain-machine interfaces (ICC / ICM) based on electroencephalography (EEG), with particular focus on Error Related Potential (ErrP), with applications in Communication systems, Robotics and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
