DESCRIPTION OF THE OPPORTUNITY
A Research Fellowship position is available at the Institute of Systems and Robotics - University of Coimbra (www.isr.uc.pt), Portugal, in the scope of the project “CORE – Centre of Operations for Rethinking Engineering”, funded by the Portugal 2020 program, under the reference CENTRO-01-0247-FEDER-037082.
The successful candidate will develop artificial perception and robotic decision algorithms in forestry scenarios, processing data from sophisticated multi-sensory systems and extending these algorithms to other application scenarios (e.g. terrestrial, air and aquatic multi-robot systems).
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The eligible candidates must hold a **M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or in Computer Science obtained in a university located in a country that is a member of the European Higher Education Area (i.e. in a country that ratified the Bologna process)**, and must have **nationality from a country belonging to the Schengen Area, or hold a passport containing a travel visa to remain or live in a country belonging to the Schengen Area**. The candidates must have high oral and written proficiency in English.
PROFILE OF PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES
The ideal candidate would have: excellent software development skills in C++, Python and Linux OS; solid experience in software development using ROS (Robot Operating System); experience in computer vision, sensor fusion, robotic decision-making and multi-robot cooperation; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; and high motivation to get involved in the CORE project.
