CALL FOR ONE RESEARCH GRANT UNDER THE ResiMicrogrid RESEARCH PROJECT
Grant: Research Fellowship for MSc
Reference: ResiMicrogrid/BI/02
Application period: 27th July to 10th August, 2022
The Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra (ISR-UC) opens a call for applications for one (1) Research Fellowship for MSc. in the framework of the R&D project ResiMicrogrid - Optimização e gestão de Microredes para fornecimento de potência em situações críticas ou desastrosas, with the reference UTAP-EXPL/CA/0065/2021.
Work Plan: The selected candidate will work on the development of a high resilience electric microgrid for critical applications. The work plan comprises the following tasks:
1. System Architecture Design and Control
This task is focused on the planning of the microgrid architecture and designing its control methodology.
2. Implementation of a functional Microgrid
The objective of this task is to achieve a fully operational microgrid installation with distributed generation, an energy storage system, vehicle-to-grid integration and load controllers.
3. Microgrid Control Optimization
In this task control strategies will be developed to optimize the microgrid operation focusing on resiliency, economic and environmental impacts.
4. Microgrid Assessment under Critical and Disaster operation and Experimental Validation
This task will be focused on testing the developed microgrid and control algorithms, namely during critical and disaster situations. Several types of faults will be simulated and the microgrid response will be analysed. The microgrid installations at DEEC-UC will be used to conduct preliminary tests.
