The Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica (ISR) - Coimbra opens a call to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher corresponding to the initial level according to the Applicable Regulation, in the scope of the Scientific Research Project – “GreenAuto”, in the context of a Mobilizing Agenda called “GreenAuto: Green innovation for the Automotive Industry”, financed under Notice 02/C05-i01/2022, framed in Ordinance No. 43-A/2022, of 19 January, and in the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Scientific Area: Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related fields.
Work plan: The selected candidate will carry out R&D on ML-based Perception and Navigation for AMRs targeting industrial applications. The following topics, applying machine learning techniques, will be addressed:
- Obstacle detection and tracking, human activity and context perception;
- Navigation techniques that consider AMR load, map, location and risk indicators so that the robot learns which behaviors to take to avoid collisions and how to navigate safely;
- AMR local re-planning techniques;
- Robot Localization and SLAM methods to promote long-term navigation for AMRs.
