>> Dear colleagues,
>>
>> We are pleased to invite you to the 1st Portuguese Workshop on Neuromorphic Vision, a half-day meeting for researchers, students and professionals working with event cameras and event-based vision. It is a forum to exchange results, discuss scientific and technological challenges, and strengthen ties between universities, research institutes, students and industry.
>>
>> WHY EVENT CAMERAS?
>>
>> Instead of capturing full frames at fixed intervals, event cameras asynchronously record brightness changes as they occur, opening new opportunities in robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, industrial inspection, computational imaging and machine learning.
>>
>> 1. Microsecond resolution: fast motion captured without blur.
>> 2. Extremely low latency: pixels respond as changes happen, not frame by frame.
>> 3. High dynamic range: reliable perception under extreme lighting contrasts.
>> 4. Lower power and data rates: only changes are recorded, giving sparse, efficient data streams.
>> KEYNOTE
>>

>> 10:00–11:00
>> Event-Based Sensing for Space-Based Applications
>> Dr. Scott McCloskey
>> Director of Computational Imaging, Kitware (USA)
>> IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Industry Speaker
>>
>> About the talk. Event streams are sparse, capture very high dynamic range and preserve fast changes without motion blur, which makes them ideal for space, where scenes are mostly static, lighting is extreme and relative orbital motion is high. The talk reviews event-based sensors and then explores two space applications: star tracking with an event sensor looking into deep space, and vehicle re-identification in remote sensing.
>>
>> About the speaker. Dr. McCloskey leads the Computational Imaging group at Kitware and has headed large multi-organization research projects funded by agencies such as DARPA, IARPA and AFRL. He has held chair roles at WACV, CVPR and ICCV.
