The lecture is primarily aimed at PhD and MSc students in the fields of Telecommunications and Computer Engineering. From 2001 to 2008, he was a Professor at IST. He is currently a Professor at FCT-UNL. In 2003, he was an Invited Professor at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He is also a Senior Researcher with IT. He has been actively involved in several national and international research projects in the area of broadband wireless communications. His research interests include transmission, estimation, and detection techniques. He is or has been an Editor of IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON VEHICULAR TECHNOLOGY, IEEE OPEN JOURNAL OF COMMUNICATIONS, and Physical Communication (Elsevier). He has also been a guest editor of several special issues.
