The job description: 
The research conducted by the Robotics, Action, and Perception team (RAP) mostly takes place within the fields of perception, sensor-based motion and sensor integration in robotics. The RAP team is offering a two years postdoc position for a highly motivated research fellow with special interest with agricultural robotics and autonomous navigation. The research to be developed will take place within the DESHERB'EUR project. This project involves a close collaboration between LAAS and Naïo Technologies, a company which designs and markets robots for agriculture and viticulture. This project aims at elaborating a new range of agricultural straddling robots allowing to weed vineyards and vegetables plantations. More precisely, the goal is to develop an elaborated autonomous strategy allowing the robot to navigate throughout the farm while guaranteeing persons and goods safety. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with a PhD student, a research engineer, and permanent researchers from RAP team. He/she will be strongly involved in the navigation strategy design together with the experimental validation 
campaigns.

Expected profile : 
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in robotics. They should have a strong background in robotics, visual navigation, obstacle avoidance, SLAM, robot control engineering. Mastery of C/C++ languages, Linux, ROS, Python is also required.   
An experience in agricultural robotics is a plus.
