O Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica - Coimbra (ISR-Coimbra) abre concurso
para a atribuição de uma (1) Bolsa de Investigação (BI) no âmbito do
Projeto de Investigação Científica e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico (IC&DT)
IMFire - “Intelligent Management of Wildfires”, com a referência
PCIF/SSI/0151/2018, integralmente financiado por fundos nacionais através
do Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior.

*Área Científica*: Engenharia Eletrotécnica e de Computadores, Engenharia
Informática, Engenharia Física, Física, Matemática, Engenharia Biomédica,
ou afins.


*Requisitos de admissão:* A este concurso podem concorrer os que estejam
inscritos em programa doutoral nas áreas de Engenharia Electrotécnica e de
Computadores, Engenharia Informática, Engenharia Física, Física,
Matemática, Engenharia Biomédica, ou afins.

Os candidatos preferencialmente devem ter bons conhecimentos em programação
Matlab e Python. São também valorizados conhecimentos em técnicas de
inteligência artificial para identificação, estimação e predição,
algoritmos evolucionários e bons conhecimentos de língua inglesa falada e
escrita.

*Plano de Trabalhos*: O candidato selecionado irá desenvolver tarefas, na
área de inteligência artificial, calibração de modelos de comportamento de
fogo e predição do comportamento de fogo. As tarefas poderão incluir
calibração dos modelos existentes, e complementar os atuais modelos com
metodologias de inteligência computacional para melhorar os modelos
clássicos e modelar partes/relações cujos modelos atuais são imprecisos ou
inexistentes, e teste e validação dos métodos desenvolvidos. Este protejo
resulta do consórcio entre os centros de investigação ISR-UC, ADAI, ADDF e
a empresa Thales Portugal S.A..

*Formalização de candidaturas:* As candidaturas deverão ser enviadas em
formato pdf para os seguintes endereços de correio electrónico,
jermendes at isr.uc.pt e jpaulo at isr.uc.pt, colocando no assunto do email:
*IMFire-BI-ISRUC-2*. Deverá ser enviada a seguinte documentação: (1)
Curriculum Vitae (CV), (2) certificado de habilitações incluindo
discriminação das classificações obtidas nas disciplinas do respetivo curso
e classificação final, e (3) carta de motivação. O CV deverá incluir: (i)
contacto; (ii) formação académica; (iii) lista de publicações científicas;
(iv) principais projetos em que participou; (v) outra informação
considerada relevante. Os candidatos com graus académicos obtidos no
estrangeiro terão de apresentar Certidão de registo de reconhecimento de
acordo com a legislação aplicável.

*Prazo para formalização da candidatura*: O concurso encontra-se aberto no
período de 30 de junho a 31 de julho de 2020.

*Local de trabalho:* O trabalho será desenvolvido nas instalações do
Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica - Coimbra (ISR-Coimbra), sob a orientação
científica do Doutor Jérôme Amaro Pires Mendes

*Duração da bolsa:* A bolsa terá a duração de 6 meses, com possibilidade de
renovação durante o período de duração do projeto, a qual tem uma data
prevista de término a 30 de novembro de 2022 de acordo com o desempenho do
bolseiro, em regime de exclusividade, conforme o regulamento de formação
avançada de recursos humanos da FCT.

*Valor do subsídio de manutenção mensal:* O montante da bolsa corresponde a
1064,00€, conforme tabela de valores das bolsas atribuídas diretamente pela
FCT, I.P. no País (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt).

*Métodos de seleção:* Os métodos de seleção a utilizar serão os seguintes:
avaliação curricular, com valoração de 50% para as habilitações académicas
e 50% para o grau de satisfação dos requisitos relativos a conhecimentos e
experiência. Caso o Júri o considere necessário, poderá ser realizada
entrevista aos candidatos colocados nas três primeiras posições de acordo
com a ordenação resultante dos critérios anteriores. Neste caso, a
pontuação final incluirá a avaliação curricular (como acima descrito), com
valoração de 90%, e a entrevista, com valoração de 10%. Caso nenhum dos
candidatos possua o perfil adequado (avaliação global inferior a 50%), a
bolsa não será atribuída.

The Institute of Systems and Robotics - University of Coimbra (ISR-UC)
opens a tender for the award of one (1) Research Grant (BI) for Master in
the framework of the Scientific Research and Technological Development
Project (IC&DT) IMFire - “Intelligent Management of Wildfires ”, with the
reference PCIF/SSI/0151/2018, funded entirely by national funds through the
Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

*Scientific Area:* Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Physical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biomedical
Engineering, or similar.

*Admission Requirements:* Masters who are enrolled in a doctoral program in
the areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Physical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, or
similar areas may apply.

Candidates should have good knowledge of Matlab and Python programming.
Preferably, skills in artificial intelligence techniques for
identification, estimation and prediction, and evolutionary algorithms are
desirable, as well as, good spoken and written English skills.

*Work Plan:* The selected candidate will develop tasks in the area of
artificial intelligence to calibrate the existing fire behavior models, and
fire behavior prediction. Tasks may include calibrate/tune the existing
fire model, and complement the existing models with computational
intelligence methodologies to improve classic models by model
parts/relationships whose current models are inaccurate or non-existent,
and testing and validating the developed methods. This project results from
the consortium between the research centers ISR-UC, ADAI, ADDF and Thales
Portugal S.A..

*Formalization of applications:* Applications should be sent in pdf format

documentation must be submitted: (1) Curriculum Vitae (CV), (2) certificate
of qualifications including breakdown of the grades obtained in the
subjects of the respective course and final grade, and (3) letter of
motivation.

The CV should include: (i) contact information, (ii) academic, (iii) list
of scientific publications, (iv) main projects where the applicant has
participated, (v) other information considered relevant. Applicants with
foreign academic degrees must present Certificate of Recognition in
accordance with applicable law.

*Deadline for application:* The submission is open from June 30 to July 31,
2020.

*Workplace:* The work will be developed at the facilities of the Institute
of Systems and Robotics - Coimbra (ISR-Coimbra), under the scientific
supervision of Doctor Jérôme Amaro Pires Mendes.

*Scholarship duration:* The scholarship will last for 6 months, with the
possibility of renewal during the duration of the respective project, which
is scheduled to end on November 30, 2022 according to the grantee's
performance, on an exclusive basis, according to FCT's advanced human
resources training regulation.

*Amount of monthly maintenance allowance:* The amount of the scholarship
corresponds to € 1064.00, according to the table of values of the
scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country (

*Selection methods:* The selection methods to be used will be: curriculum
evaluation, with a value of 50% for academic qualifications and 50% for the
degree of satisfaction of knowledge and experience requirements for the
project. If the Jury deems it necessary, an interview may be held with the
candidates placed in the first three positions according to the ordering
resulting from the previous criteria. In this case, the final score will
include the curriculum assessment (as described above), valued at 90%, and
the interview, valued at 10%. If none of the candidates has the appropriate
profile (overall assessment below 50%), the scholarship will not be awarded.
