Dear all,
Next Wednesday there will be a talk on “Biorobotic systems and biosensors with application to underwater robots and environmental monitoring”
Gianluca Manduca is a PhD student at The BioRobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy (https://www.santannapisa.it/en/institute/biorobotics <https://www.santannapisa.it/en/institute/biorobotics>), and is visiting us in the scope of the ECOBOTICS.sea project (https://ecobotics.isr.uc.pt <https://ecobotics.isr.uc.pt/>).
The talk is next Wednesday, October 12 at 16h00, ISR auditorium.
Title:
Biorobotic systems and biosensors with application to underwater robots and environmental monitoring
Abstract:
The harmony of the movements of the aquatic species is an ever-increasing source of inspiration for the reproduction of efficient and energy-saving solutions able to move with agility, even in complex underwater areas. Biomimetics and bioinspiration play a crucial role in underwater robotics, one of the most challenging areas to explore due to the nature of the environment and, at the same time, a field in which to invest research activities to cope with various essential and fascinating issues.
Short bio:
Gianluca Manduca is a PhD student at The BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa. Gianluca graduated in Automation and Control Engineering at Politecnico di Milano; before embarking on his Ph.D. path, he spent a period as a visiting scholar at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA. The background in automation and control formed during the course of studies initially contributed to the automotive sector, with work related to autonomous driving and lithium-ion battery modeling. Currently, Gianluca deals with bio-robotic systems and bio-sensors managed through artificial intelligence techniques, with application to submarine robots and environmental monitoring.
Best regards,
Jorge Lobo.
